The newest technology being used in lights today is LED or Light Emitting Diode. This technology is quickly replacing the regular fluorescent & incandescent bulbs which we have grown used to nowadays. In fact, these bulbs aren't exactly new. Think back to the bulbs that you use for your Christmas decorations, think about the remote controlled cars you used to play with when you were little. All the lights in these products used LED technology. But it is only recently that this technology has started being used for lighting. The benefits of the same are tremendous. Let's take a look at a few of them:

 

1. The most important advantage that you get by using LED bulbs is that they're very energy efficient.

 

If you are wondering how efficient they are then let me tell you that while regular bulbs only convert around ten percent of the electricity which they receive into light, LED bulbs manage to convert more than ninety percent. That's right, 90 %. So instead of most of your electricity being wasted in heating the bulb, it will all be utilized in providing light. This means you'll no longer have to pay for unnecessary light and your electricity bill will reduce as a result.

 

2. Another advantage of LED bulbs is that they are very eco-friendly.

 

Since you will not need to change them more than once in every 10-15 years or so, you can definitely say that you are doing your part for the environment. Plus, they don't use too much electricity as well which is just another advantage. What's more, these bulbs don't contain any harmful chemicals like mercury either.

 

3. One more advantage of using LED bulbs is that they are very long lasting as compared to regular bulbs.

 

As mentioned above, they can easily last you for 10-15 years without any trouble. And even before they are about to burn out, they will become dim which gives you enough time to have them changed before they completely die. This is a much better alternative as compared to regular bulbs that can get spoilt when used for too long because the filament gets heated up.

 

These are just a few of the benefits of using led light bulbs instead of regular bulbs but I'm sure you'll already agree that they are far more advantageous. I'm sure these advantages more than justify their additional cost. All I can say is f you weren't sure about using LED bulbs earlier, you definitely are now.
